We will host a Super Bowl party on Sunday, February 11 at Transitions (2025 Main St., Columbia, SC). The Super Bowl party is a fun and relaxed way to get to know the clients at Transitions while also watching the game. It will consist of setting up and serving concessions, talking to Transitions clients, and playing games (if football isn’t your thing).

Please bring a snack to share. If you have a fun game to play, please bring that along as well.

The event will start at 6:00pm and end at the end of half time, but you can stay till the end if you want!

This event is for anyone 18 and older.

We will host a Gingerbread House Party on Wednesday, December 13 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Transitions Homeless Center

At the event, we will build Gingerbread Houses with Transitions clients while enjoying other holiday goodies! This event is best suited for anyone 18+. It is a great opportunity to meet and interact with Transitions clients in a casual environment and also bring them some seasonal fun. 

Please bring a festive snack or candy to share.

We are hosting a Pumpkin Carving event at Transitions Homeless Center on Wednesday, October 25, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

During our time, we will carve pumpkins with Transitions clients and enjoy other Halloween festivities! It is an excellent opportunity to meet and interact with Transitions clients casually and bring them some seasonal fun. This year will be our 5th year of carving pumpkins at Transitions, and we always meet at least one person who has never carved a pumpkin before!

Please bring a pumpkin, snack, or candy to share. This event is best suited for anyone 18+.

STC | Daybreak Ministries Race for Life 5K | October 14

Support Daybreak on Saturday, October 14, at Saluda Shoals Park for a fun, family-centered 5K! Registration will begin at 8:00 am, and the walk/run will start at 9:00 am

Registration is $35 for adults, and kids 12 and under are $10 (kids two and under are free). A T-shirt is included. A delicious pancake breakfast and hot chocolate/coffee will be served!

Join Epworth for its Campus Work Day on Saturday, September 9, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. 

This day is an incredible opportunity to serve Epworth on both indoor and outdoor projects. Your assistance throughout the day will create a welcoming atmosphere for foster parents, caregivers, and visitors.

Home Works is a Christ-centered nonprofit organization providing home repair services to low-income homeowners. The mission is to show God’s love through serving those in need by repairing their homes.

You have an opportunity to take part in that mission on our next Home Works service day that’s taking place on Sat, November 12 from 8:00am - 4:00pm.

No tools or construction skills are required, but you may bring tools if you wish.  A location will be provided to attendees closer to the event date.

Are you looking for an opportunity to serve? Our STC partnership organization, Epworth Children's Home, needs outside volunteers to assist during its Sunday School and Worship Gathering on Nov 6 from 4:30 - 6:15 pm. This event provides biblical teaching and worship for Epworth middle and high school boys and girls. 

Serving Epworth through this event allows campus students to experience God through scripture and worship. There are many opportunities to serve. Join us by participating in worship or teaching from Epworth's curriculum.

STC | Prisma Children's Hospital | 5K Run/Walk for Camp Kemo

Please join us the evening of Friday, September 16, 2022 from 7:00-8:00 pm at Saluda Shoals Park for the inaugural Light Up for Leah 5k Run/Walk benefitting CAMP KEMO Programs of Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Midlands. It is intended to honor children who have died following their battle with pediatric cancer or a blood disorder. It is open to all, and no experience is required.

This event will provide positive interactions with individuals who are interested in bettering the lives of the Epworth kids as well as give an opportunity to develop relationships with the kids.

Chef’s Feast will be held on June 5, 2022 at 6pm at the Capital City Club. This event is one of the major annual fundraisers to support the programs and services provided by Transitions Homeless Center.

The evening will include a five-course menu of Mediterranean-inspired dishes prepared by talented chefs around the region with magnificent views of the Columbia skyline.

Transitions provides homeless men and women ages 18 and older access to our day center, hot meals, showers, service providers and housing.

This year's theme, Hero's Heartbeat, is inspired by our state's legislators fighting to put an end to abortions after a detection of the infant's heartbeat in the mother's womb is discovered.

An organization called Curing Kids Cancer is hosting their annual Fire Truck Pull as a fundraiser for childhood cancer research. During this event, teams will be competing to pull a fire truck in the fastest time. This organization was started by the family of one of our Midtown members and they are asking for people to put together teams to pull for this event.

Home Works is a christ-centered nonprofit organization providing home repair services to low income homeowners. The mission is to show God’s love through serving those in need by repairing their homes.

You have an opportunity to take part in that mission during our Home Works Service Day on Sat, June 26 from 8:00am - 3:00pm. We will be doing some light carpentry and painting. Previous experience is not required and all skill levels are welcome!

Each January during Martin Luther King weekend, our Family of Churches rallies around our partner organizations for Serve the City Weekend. The weekend will start on Saturday, Jan 18 at 6:30am at 1800 Blanding St for registration. We’ll then eat breakfast together and launch out to serve together throughout Columbia. On Sunday, Jan 19 starting at 5:00PM we will have a night of preparation moving forward into another year of serving with each organization. We will have breakouts connected to each organization where we will all eat together as we are educated by a representative from each organization. We’ll finish up the weekend with a day of serving Monday, Jan 20 at 8:00am. Click the link below for more information and to sign up to serve.

We will host a Christmas party open to our family of churches on Wednesday, December 4 from 6pm - 8:30pm at Transitions Homeless Center. This event is open to anyone 18+, Midtown member or not. At our Christmas party we will decorate Christmas cookies and have other Christmas activities or crafts. The event will last approximately 2 and a half hours. We are hosting this event to bring fun to the residents of Transitions. This is a great opportunity to get to know some of the residents, have fun with them, and craft alongside of them to remember that we are no different than the men and women in homeless situations in our city. Please bring a snack or dessert to share.

Families! Although this is not a family friendly event we would love for you to drop off a holiday snack or dessert for the Christmas party Dec 1st during the 9AM or 11:15AM gatherings. We will have a table set up to drop off snacks or desserts, this is a great way our families at Midtown and care for our friends at Transitions. Please sign up below.

We will host a block party open to our family of churches on Saturday, November 16 at Transitions Homeless Center. This event is open to anyone 18+, Midtown member or not. The block party is our big event for the fall semester and its the start of homeless awareness week. We will set up yard games on the lawn and have other carnival style games to play for prizes. The event will last approximately 3 hours. We are hosting this event just to bring fun to the residents of Transitions. This is a great opportunity to get to know some of the residents and have fun with them in a casual environment.

We will host a Fall Festival at Ezekiel Farms for the surrounding neighborhoods and our Two Notch families on November 3rd from 1:00-4:00 pm. The Fall Festival will allow our Two Notch families to partner with Ezekiel Ministries and build connections with the surrounding community through serving food and running fun Fall activities, like corn hole, painting pumpkins, ring toss, face painting, and a popcorn stand. The goal is to have our Two Notch families interacting and building relationships while members of our Downtown location volunteer to run the games and food.

Please note: November 10th as a backup date in case we encounter any issues with the weather.

STC | DSS | Childcare for Foster Family Training

We are partnering with DSS to provide childcare for a Foster Family Training event for the Lexington and Richland communities on Oct 26th. The event will be held at 1800 Blanding Street and aims to make training more convenient for foster families as they typically travel long distances to get the training they need.

We will be expecting around 100 adults to attend the training and will need childcare volunteers to watch their kids during that time. Please sign up soon so we can take the necessary steps to ensure the safety for all children in our care.

Breakfast will be provided for all volunteers.

We will host a pumpkin carving event open to our family of churches on Tuesday, October 22 at Transitions Homeless Center. This event is open to anyone 18+, Midtown member or not. For the pumpkin carving, we will bring in pumpkins, tools and designs so that the residents can make jack-o'-lanterns. The event will last approximately two and a half hours. We are hosting this event to empower the residents of Transitions and have festive fun together, remembering that we are no different than the men and women in homeless situations in our city.

Please bring a snack to share. Also, if you are able, please bring a pumpkin to share with the transitions residents.
